Unlike many other Ramblers Areas, Manchester and High Peak itself organises a full led walks programme covering Greater Manchester and beyond, with all walks making use of public transport connections.
Groups in Greater Manchester & High Peak Area:
(MR01) Bolton Group
The Bolton group organises local walks using public transport and coach trips to do linear walks further afield.
(MR02) Bury Group
(MR03) Rochdale Group
(MR04) New Mills Group
A friendly,welcoming group that walks on Sundays, some Saturdays and Wednesdays. Walks to suit everyone take place in the White and Dark Peak areas of Derbyshire and further afield.
On the Wednesday walks there is a shorter walk, usually around 6 miles.
There are occasional social events such as week ends away, barbecues and outings.
Members report on path problems and try to get action for all walkers.

Unless stated otherwise, dogs are allowed on walks, provided they are kept under close control.
(MR07) Wigan & District Group
(MR10) Manchester and Salford Group
Walks are held on Tuesdays and Saturdays. All walks start at 10.30 unless otherwise stated. Walks are normally 5- 6 miles, but we have added some longer walks into this years's programme- so please check details carefully .
Walks are normally dog-free.
(MR11) Ramblers Trafford Group
The Trafford Group of Ramblers (RTG) started with its inaugural walk in June 2010 We are lucky to have a wide variety of countryside to walk in and our programme has walks to suit all abilities.
RTG strives to coordinate its activities with all agencies and current initiatives with the same aim. RTG is committed to upkeeping the footpath heritage of the borough.

(MR40) Manchester Weekend Walkers Group
The Manchester Weekend Walkers is a Ramblers walking group set up at the beginning of 2013. We aim to provide a programme of regular walks, socials and weekends away. The group is primarily for people of working age who enjoy walking at the weekend. The majority of our walks are public transport based.
Our group belongs to the Manchester and High Peak Area of the Ramblers Association, and our membership area covers Greater Manchester - Bury, Bolton, Manchester, Oldham, Rochdale, Salford, Stockport, Tameside, Trafford, Wigan and the High Peak District of Derbyshire.
(MR50) Mad Walkers (Manchester & District) Group
Greater Manchester's 20s & 30s group. Our walks programme of at least two walks per week takes advantage of the excellent walking country surrounding Greater Manchester and other much loved areas for walking e.g. Lakes, Peak District. Many of our walks each month use the rail network, making the final pub stop much more enjoyable! For non-public transport walks, we car-share from a city centre Meet Point. We also have a busy social side to the group with trips to theatre, weekends away and exploring Manchester's extensive places to eat and drink! Since 2007 The Manchester Coach Rambles Group run coach excursions fortnightly on Sunday all throughout the year to popular destinations in the 5 National Parks - Lake District, North Yorks Moors, Yorkshire Dales, Snowdonia and Peak District- and to areas of outstanding natural beauty notably The Forest of Bowland and Shropshire.
At each destination there are up to 4 walks led by volunteer walk leaders:-
A walk- up to 15 miles
B walk- up to 12 miles
C walk-up to 10 miles
D walk up to 7 miles
There is no extra cost to the very competitive price of the coach ticket to join these led walks. It is not compulsory to join the led walks. Members can do their own private walks at the destination but must ensure that they return to the coach at the appointed time of departure. Members unable to return to the coach at the appointed time of departure must contact Brenda Parkinson on 07876076717.
Coach leaves Chorlton Street, opposite Chorlton Coach Station at 8.50am prompt.
Seats must be booked in advance from Brenda Parkinson, tel no 0161 736 8710 not later than the Monday before the event.
