We cover a large area of East Hampshire and the South Downs, with an interesting variety of scenery. There is always a mid-week walk of approximately 5 miles, and frequently longer ones on the same day, a Sunday walk, normally of about 10 miles, and during the summer we also have a series of evening walks. In addition there are walking breaks away, twice a year. Details of our walks can be found on the Ramblers’ website.
We are a very friendly group and enjoy a range of social events.
Our priority is for all our members to enjoy their walking and membership.

We have published two books on walks in our area.

We would like to invite you to walk regularly with us in a beautiful part of Hampshire characterized by chalk downland, sparkling rivers and idyllic villages. We offer a wide variety of walks, in terms of location, distance, grade and type, and with up to a dozen walks each month, you will always have plenty to choose from.

Our weekly Sunday walks typically range from 8 to 12 miles, whilst our Saturday walks are mainly 5 to 8 miles. From May to August we organize walks every Wednesday evening up to 5 miles in length.

Please note that start times are from Andover. All walkers are encouraged to gather at our meeting point in Andover so that we can share cars and offer a lift to those without cars. However, if you do need to go direct to the start of the walk, please contact our Secretary, Pat Peacock, on 01264 351991. Leave your name, telephone number and details of the walk that you wish to join, and she will get the walk leader to contact you as soon as possible.

Please visit our website for further information.

We walk around Romsey, in the New Forest, Hampshire and neighbouring counties. Short Saturday walks are intended for the new walker and are of 4 or 5 miles. Midweek walks may be 6-12 miles and are often at a moderate pace. Sunday walks are usually between 6-9 miles and may include a pub lunch. Often a pub will figure in the walk description though if picnics are preferred the leader will suggest a suitable spot for eating them. All leaders aim to match the pace of the slowest walker.

About the group:
Do you spend most weekends thinking you should get out and about more?
Dislike the gym but want to get some exercise?
Want to meet up with new people but don’t want to do it online?
We may be the answer!
Walking with the Hampshire 40+ Walking Group is a great way to meet new people, keep fit, and get you out and about in parts of Hampshire that you may have never seen or heard of before. Our walks vary from 3 miles to 20+ miles, cover all of Hampshire and parts of the surrounding counties and cater for most abilities. We also have regular pub nights, weekends (and weeks) away, and an annual Summer Festival - so we’re not always walking!
Why not give us a try?!
