20 mile circular over hilly terrain with good views via Glynde, Beddingham Hill, Denton (lunch stop at the Flying Fish pub), Newhaven (drop-out point), Piddinghoe, Telscombe and Kingston near Lewes. Map: E 122, L 198.

14 mile linear to Buxted Station mainly following the Wealdway via Ashdown Forest, where the heather should be in full bloom. Undulating terrain. Picnic lunch on Camp Hill: bring food and drink with you. Pub stop later at The Foresters, Fairwarp. Joint walk with North West London Group. Map: E 135, L 187/188/198.

Seven Sisters walk from Seaford to Eastbourne

13.5 mile linear to Eastbourne Station. Classic cliff-top walk along the Seven Sisters with impressive views of sea and countryside. Hilly terrain. Lunch stop at the Golden Galleon pub, Exceat or Birling Gap National Trust Visitors Centre but bring food with you. Map: E 123, L 198/199. You are welcome to join the leaders for dinner at Qualisea Fish Restaurant in Eastbourne at end of walk.

14 mile circular over undulating terrain via Sarratt Church End and Chipperfield, skirting Flaunden and Chenies. Nice mix of walking in the open and through woods, plus some lovely views (weather permitting). No convenient dropout point. Lunch stop at Chipperfield at about 13:00 hrs on green opposite The Windmill pub: bring food with you. Map: E 172/182, L 166.

20 mile circular over varied countryside via Avington and over the rivers Kennet and Lambourn to East Garston for lunch at the Queens Arms Hotel or picnic in churchyard. Then along the Lambourn to Great Shefford, and via Welford and Elcot to Kintbury for the 17:49 to London. Map: E 158, L 174.

17 mile linear to Shoreham-by-Sea Station over undulating terrain, initially following the South Downs Way with a detour to Washington for the lunch stop at the Frankland Arms pub. After passing Chanctonbury Ring, a late Bronze Age hillfort marked by a ring of beech trees, the route turns south to Cissbury Ring, the second largest hillfort in Britain built in the Iron Age on the site of Neolithic flint mines. It then heads SE past Lancing Ring, also marked by beech trees and within an AONB. Map: E121/122, L197/198

10 mile circular. A lovely walk along the Thames in the morning to Hambleden. The walk then goes through the Great Wood and onto Fawley (mentioned in the Doomsday Book). Walking is mainly flat. Lunch stop at Hambleden at the Stag & Huntsman pub for food / drinks or picnic. Map: E 171, L 175

17 mile linear to Strood Station over undulating terrain with several level sections. Cliffe Fort (built in the 1860s and now a ruin) then along the Saxon Shore Way, which follows Kents ancient coastline, via the picturesque villages of Cliffe, Cooling (lunch stop at the Horseshoe & Castle pub but bring food with you), Fenn Street, Hoo St. Werburgh and Lower Upnor. 13 mile linear to Shoeburyness Station via Hadleigh Castle, Leigh and Southend. Mainly flat (one small hill) on tarmac, coastal path and beach. Lunch in Leigh-on-sea where there is a variety of pubs and cafes. The walk follows the railway line so there are several drop-out points at stations along the way. 9 mile linear to Alexandra Palace Station (National Rail, Zone 3). Through Regent?s Park, Primrose Hill, Belsize Park and Kenwood Estate for lunch at Kenwood House (café or picnic). Then via Highgate, Parkland Walk and Muswell Hill to Alexandra Palace (afternoon tea in the Garden Centre). A fairly level walk with some undulation after lunch. Joint with North West London Group.
