Holme & Woodwalton Nature Rambles - 2 walks.

  • Start time 10.30 (grid ref TL 199 877), 4 miles & 13.30 (grid ref TL 235848), 3.5 miles. Walk below sea level in these two historic nature reserves. Holme Fen is situated on the southwestern shore of the former Whittlesey Mere. Stop at the famous Holme Fen Posts reputedly marking the lowest point in England. Woodwalton Fen features a mosaic of Fen habitats interlaced with stretches of tranquil waterway and footpaths. Binoculars will be very useful. There is a drive between the two walk, contact walk leader to see if car sharing is possible.

We will pass through woodland to Church End, then across open farmland to Croxley Green.
