Longer description: Walk from the Deer Centre by Over Rankeilour Westhall to Mount Hill where the Hopetoun Monument is situated. Return by Fernie walking on mostly farm tracks with interesting views over the Howe of Fife.

Based in central Fife, the club draws its membership from the most northerly new town, Glenrothes and likes to be known as "the friendly club". Formed in 1992, the membership has increased steadily to around 150.
Over the year there is a walk every second Sunday with a turn out of 12 to 30 people, supplemented with a number of midweek walks. The walk programme is varied with a mix of short to medium length walks (grades C and B). The club members also participate in the Annual Scottish Gathering and their own weekend break which is usually in August when 30 - 40 members spend a pleasant weekend walking and socialising.
So come and join us and enjoy a day out in the countryside with the Glenrothes Ramblers.

General Note

Walks highlighted with the Get Walking Week logo are free and open to all. They're run by Ramblers Groups and projects and Walking for Health schemes to help everyone discover the joys and benefits of walking.

Other walks listed here are intended primarily for Ramblers members. Non-members are welcome to join us on two or three walks, though if you walk with a group regularly you'll be expected to join the Ramblers.

For all walks listed here, please make sure that you're fit enough to undertake the walk you intend to join. If you're unsure of your fitness level, try a short and easy walk first. It's much better to find a walk a little too slow or easy than to exhaust yourself.

Some walks are off-road in rural areas. Please have suitable footwear and clothing for the walk you intend to join and bring some food and drink - even if the walk includes a pub or café break.

Walk leaders may refuse to accept participants who in their opinion are inadequately equipped or unfit. When in doubt, contact the organiser or leader in advance. For the safety of yourself and others please follow any advice and guidelines issued by the organiser and the instructions of the leader. Although walking is a very low risk activity, no activity is completely without risk and it is your responsibility to behave sensibly and to minimise the potential for accidents.
